The Directorate consists of five departments and one Communication Unit, headed by the Director General, Jørn Holme.
The Communication Unit is responsible for all media contact and works as the communication adviser for the management, as well as for the five departements.
Department for Area Planning sees to that cultural heritage considerations are taken into account in all planning processes.
Department for Buildings, Monuments and Sites ensures that a representative selection of tangible heritage is preserved for future generations.
Department for Conservation gives advice to private and public owners of monuments and sites on maintenance and conservation.
Department for Information Services is responsible for the directorate’s archive- and library-services and for information and dissemination through digital and
paper-based media.
