Prehistoric rock paintings are found both in Norway, Sweden and Finland. The images were painted using red iron oxide. Dating these images accurately is difficult, but they are believed to be between 3500 and 2000 years old. The Finnish rock paintings were probably painted from the ice or from boat, which makes them not easily accessible. The scaffolding is essential in order to achieve the right perspective when taking photographs or carrying out other types of documentation.
Nordic Interreg programme
