The Directorate for Cultural Heritage is involved in a project which aims to conserve, manage and organize rock carvings on
a mountain in the Hunza valley, near Karakoram Highway at the gate of the Himalayas. The project is implemented by Aga Khan
Cultural Service Pakistan (AKCSP) and supported by the Norwegian embassy in Islamabad. Countless images, such as mountain
goats, horses, riders, human and geometrical figures date from prehistoric time. Passing pilgrims have carved inscriptions
in many languages up to 6-7th century AD.
