The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs praises cooperation in Georgia

The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jonas Gahr Støre, recently visited Betlemi; the oldest urban area of Georgia’s capital Tbilisi. This unique area has been rehabilitated with economic and professional support from Norway.

Programme cooperation with Hungary

On the 13th November the agreement on the EEA Grants for 2009-2014 went into force in Hungary. Under the grants, cultural heritage is one of the key areas of support, and the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage is appointed Donor Programme Partner.

Programme cooperation with Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania

Norway has signed agreements on the EEA and Norway Grants for 2009-2014 with all three Baltic countries. Cultural heritage is one of the key areas of support, and the Directorate for Cultural Heritage is appointed Donor Programme Partner in the three states.

Opening of EEA and Norway Grants project in Romania.

On 25. March 2011 the brand new storage and laboratory building of ASTRA Museum in Sibiu, Transylvania, was opened. The Norwegian partner was represented by the Ambassador, and representatives from the FMO office in Brussels, Arts Council Norway and Riksantikvaren.

Monitoring group on cultural cooperation met in Kotka.

Representatives from cultural heritage management in the Baltic Sea States had their bi-annual meeting in Finnish seaside town of Kotka in March. The meeting was held in the brand new and innovative Maritime Center Vellamo.

The Faro Convention takes effect

On Friday February 4th, Georgia acceded to the 'Framework Convention on the value of Cultural Heritage for Society of the Council of Europe'. This ratification means that the convention, also known as the Faro convention, will take effect from June 1st this year.
